D&L Sports Inc. International Tactical Rifleman Championship (ITRC) at the Surefire Small Arms Training Academy (SATA)

The ITRC was developed as a proving ground for shooters, their techniques, and their gear. The ITRC provides the opportunity to shooters to test their skills and compare their performance with other operators from around the world. The ITRC is open to police, military, and qualified civilians to assure the widest variety of innovation is experienced. Lessons leared from the ITRC allow performance improvements to be made prior to live deployment. The ITRC has been very successful at testing both man and machine. It is also proven to be beneficial field training for those later exposed to armed conflict. Developing professional and successful reactions to dangerous situations has always been a primary goal at D&L Sports and the Surefire SATA.

Forces of fire at the ITRC involve a two person team moving through various shooting scenarios while armed with rifles, pistols and carbines. The scoring system generally places a priority on hitting a proper target with the least amount of rounds fired. Shooting distances are normally within three range brackets for the three different firearms used, handguns may be used up to 50 yards,carbines for shooting up to 500 yards, and rifles up to 1,000 yards in the ITRC competition. In order to maintain field practicality, shooters are not advised of the exact target distances, they are simply required to be skilled within reasonable distance brackets for each firearm.

Specialty shooting opportunities are available at the D&L Sports and Surefire SATA and the ITRC. Training courses ranging from handguns, shotguns, sub guns, carbines and rifles are all available. Shooting from moving vehicles, helicopters and boats have all been integrated into the special event at the ITRC.
